Animal, Vegetable, Miracle

I just finished reading Animal, Vegetable, Miracle by Barbara Kingsolver. It's about her family's decision to eat locally for one year. I enjoyed it. It made me want to get a share in Boston Organics and be a little more intentional about my farmer's market spending. I don't have the space to grow too many of my own vegetables, although I'd love to have tomatoes and basil again this summer. It's kind of a bummer to read this book in the middle of winter (the high tomorrow is 17!) but it reminded me that spring is on the horizon and fresh, local veggies will be back soon. It also made me realize how much I depend on bananas as a staple of my breakfast and how far they have to travel to get to my kitchen.
